As a Gigagirls instructor, I want to make sure that the topics I teach are relevant and interesting to the girls in my group. That's why I always start by giving a detailed survey prior to the start of camp. This survey helps me to gauge the group's interests and streamline the classes to work with the group of girls that I have that week.

The survey includes questions about the girls' favorite subjects, hobbies, and extracurricular activities. I also ask them to list any specific topics they would like to learn about. This information helps me to create a curriculum that is both engaging and challenging for the girls in my group.

I also consider the girl's ages and skill levels.  I like to make sure that the topics chosen are appropriate for them, and that they are not overwhelmed by too much information, but also not bored with topics that are too basic.

In addition to the survey, I also like to get to know the girls on a personal level. I do this by talking to them throughout the sessions, and by observing their interactions with each other. This helps me to understand their individual learning styles and interests.

Being flexible is an important part of the Gigagirls environment. Things don't always go according to plan, so I am always prepared to adjust the lessons as needed.  If the girls are struggling with a particular topic, we may need to spend more time on it.  Or, if they are really enjoying a to[ic, I may extend the lesson.

The most important part of my planning is the feedback I get from the Gigagirls!  At camp, I ask the girls for feedback on the topics taught.  This will help me to always be improving my lessons for the next session of girls!

By taking the time to get to know the girls in my group, I can create a camp experience that is both fun and educational. I am confident that the girls will leave camp feeling inspired and empowered to pursue their interests in technology and computer science.
